Project Description
Taiko
Taiko is a Japanese drum, and I first became interested in it in my freshman year of high school. I watched our school’s taiko group during one of their performances, and I loved the sound the drum made, and because I was interested in Japanese culture, I wanted to at least try it and see what it felt like. I was informed by my Japanese language teacher of the upcoming try-outs for taiko, and I decided to go for it. I was definitely not good when I first tried, but I loved it and wanted to get better. I got accepted into the taiko group, and currently we play for local festivals and events. All the players in the group are fun and very enjoyable to be with, and taiko continues to be one of my activities I look forward to after long and difficult days or weeks.
