About.
ABOUT ME, MYSELF, AND I.
“Call me what you want, a matter of fact just say it loud and don’t stutter. ‘Cause I know who I am, yeah I’m still the same. Just a California girl with big dreams.” – Tori Kelly, Unbreakable Smile
Hello, I am Sophia Chuesakul-Linville. I go to Gretchen Whitney High School, and I spend a lot of my time focusing on school, but when I am not working, I love doing activities with my friends and family. I am more on the artistic side, I often enjoy doing projects at school that include designing and creating. Currently, I am apart of our school’s Japanese club cabinet, and is in charge of creating dance choreography and visuals for club competitions and performances in our school. Japanese culture and language, or culture in general, is a big interest for me, and I am on the Japanese drumming group at my school. I have been dancing hip-hop since I was in fifth grade, my main dance teams I contributed to include Monarchs and Global Mayhem.

STUFF I LOVE.
01. ART AND DESIGN.
For art I mainly enjoy drawing with pencil, and using acrylic and oil paints. I like doing school projects that involve some type of designing, whether it is visuals for presentations, or a 3D model of an object for the class. I try and be creative with what materials I can use and how I can use them.
02. MUSIC
I love going to concerts, the exciting atmosphere and going with other people that enjoy the same music as you is very fun. I also listen to music whenever I can, it keeps me going through the day, and when I listen to my music that I love it gives me the energy and courage to do the things that I need to do. One of my favorite types of music is Kpop. I love learning about different cultures, and the culture in the Kpop industry is interesting and I love listening to it. My favorite bands are Monsta X and Seventeen, and I like going to concerts, if I am able to, to meet new people and friends.
03. JAPANESE CULTURE
I began to be interested in different cultures at a young age, because I was exposed to many different cultures since I was born. My family has friends with their family with different lifestyles, so it interested me how much culture influences lives even in America. Japanese culture peaked my curiosity the most, and in high school I decided to try and learn the language and more about the culture. Ever since then, I have been getting more involved with the Japanese culture club in my school, and learning more about it. Along with playing taiko, I enjoy watching anime and other Japanese TV shows during my free time.
Travel.
PLACES I LOVE
OAHU & MAUI
I have been to Hawaii multiple times, and I love the islands and its culture. Our trips to Oahu have been mainly with family-friends, and there are more activities to do there for tourists, so it is a lot of fun with more people. I really loved our trip to Maui, compared to all our other Hawaiian Island trips, because it is very peaceful, and there are not many sports mainly for tourists, so you get to experience how the locals live, and the beautiful sceneries everyday. My family and I got to wake up before the sunrise one morning, and we went with a group of others to the top of a volcano in Maui, and watch the sunrise. As the sun was coming up, my brother and I recorded a dance routine, despite how cold it was, and the background was gorgeous. We got to ride bikes down the volcano road too. The Hawaiian Islands are beautiful to experience, and it is one of my favorite places to go.
SEATTLE
Traveling to Seattle is a nice experience, because it is not too far from California, but it is a good change in scenery. The seafood in Seattle is delicious, especially the clam chowder, one of my favorite foods. My family and I also went to see the first Starbucks shop, and go to the Pike Place market with many vendors.
NEW YORK
New York was one of the eye-opening experiences. My family and I stayed there for about ten days, and the way everyday life works there is a lot different than my home city, but it was very fun to experience. We saw Time Square, and at local restaurants, rode bikes at Central Park, and simple walked around the city. The most interesting part of the trip was the Hip-Hop Tour we took, where we rode a bus that took us around New York, to some famous places in Hip-Hop culture, music, and dance. Because hip-hop dance was created in New York, it was amazing to see the exact places that famous dancers lived, danced, and influenced a whole different generation of dance all over the world. We even were able to dance a little with everybody in our tour group and tour guides.
